Marshall was only more confused now, not having what he'd think to be the more important question answered to him. And this person had the audacity to call HIM insane, when he was the one insulting them all for no good reason, holding a living iceberg as if it was nothing special? And then the... 'Half-pokemon' came, described by this person as something that shouldn't be. Sparing the new guy a glance, he looked like a threat to him, but, as far as he could see, not something much worse than some swordsman, so he looked back to the investigator, no longer pointing, but covering the distance between the two - that didn't seem to work so well for Welch. "I, Marshall Bash, as a crusader of Columnia, truly care not to defeat anyone but the unbelieving heretics! For those that turn their backs on the gods deserve nothing but the end for condemning the land to the end the prophecy foretold! Now calm yourself and tell me who you are!" Turning away for a moment, he pointed at the now further away hybrid with the pole. "You, as well! Who are you?" Luckily, he still had no reason to assume that they are enemies. How long would it take for that to change, though?

"*sigh* Marshall can you not point implied weapons at people when introducing yourself?" Nyko says returning to reality as she facepalms though mentally noting marshall's fanatical beliefs and that she should just avoid the subject of religion "You'll all have to excuse Marshall he's new to idea's like magic or whatever your home's word for the supernatural may be." She says floating off her pedestal and slowly stepping forward. "You all can call me nyko if you need my attention by the way. I tend to ignore the other puns and nicknames people tend to come up for me out of principle otherwise. Now it wouldn't surprise me based on what I've seen so far that they picked people whose very existences push each other's buttons to put in the same room and see what happens. So before we jump to conclusions and get at each others throats As absurd as it may sound I nearly just drowned on a dissolving island made of sugar surrounded by an ocean of numbing pudding and am now actually very very confused. So before I inevitably die in a violent conflagration of paranoia and mistrust if either of you two actually knows what all this is about please do spill the beans." She says trying to subtly appeal to a sense of a common enemy namely whoever put these collars on them all.
She'll also totally try to read some minds starting with the newer pale guy considering it wise to assess the mental state of the chimera with the knives growing from his body. Focus pcf_GCWk4d64d6

Welch does a near double-take at Nyko as he finally noticed that she was 'floating', and has a live friggin tail. Welch pauses a moment, a look of pure confusion taking over his face. He puts his hand to the bridge of his nose. "Ow."The investigator takes a step back. "Fine. I'll spill. Name's Welch. Welch Elmfine. As for what I know? It's jack."Now very annoyed, he tugs at the collar. "I can see you jokers got these too. So probably about as knowledgable I am. All I know after that blinding light is waking up in a white room, where this Berg was. Surrounded by fire. And I saved it. It's under my protection now, so if any of you get any funny ideas, can em. Second I saved it, some a-hole thought it was time for me to take a nap. Now if you'll excuse me..."Welch pushes past Marshall. "I was with someone who I promised to protect and help, and they didn't end up with me. So I'll deal with your crazy talk when I get back."He begins to search the edges of their small island, taking a careful look off the side, and inspecting the ground; trying to see if there's any nooks or crannies Hunter may have been sent to. He's gotta focus on this, there's a possible hybrid here, a possible psychic freaking catgirl talking about magic, and a weirdo paladin speaking of foreign gods. He cannot handle this level of nuts right now. Perception: pcN5_IsS3d6 3d6

The chimera watches you all through various levels of freakouts with a blank stare and simply sits down, closing his eyes and relaxing. Nyko, as you attempt to push into his mind, you feel his mind push back with a rather strong ferocity, and he opens one eye and gives you a knowing look. Not only did you fail, he knew what you were trying to do. Then, he goes back to closing his eyes and meditating, seeming to be waiting for something to happen. Welch, as you go the edge of the island, you don't manage to see anything but the green of a certain ocean over the edge of the island, as far as you can see. As far as you can tell, there's no where else where Hunter could have appeared. He really is gone. Suddenly, the island lurches and begins moving in a direction... well, you don't really know which direction because everything looks the same. After a few moments, you're able to regain your footing, right before a large cloud of birds fly up from underneath the island in a loud cacophony, agitated by whatever just happened. A few of the birds flap around the island hesitantly, and a few of them look confused and aggressive, eying the four of you as potential threats. You are not in combat, yet.
Welch, you recognize the birds as Starly.

Nyko finds the push back and knowing look disconcerting sending a shiver down her spine, but there is no time to dwell on it as the "island" starts to move and a cloud of birds appear.
Trying to think fast Nyko tries reading one of the hesitant birds minds hoping to glean useful information about "what the hell is going on!?" from snooping in on its surface thoughts.

So they sent me alone, then. Damnit, where is the kid? Why bother to have us team up then immediately split? Especially if the girl and the knight over there were teamed up already. Unless... maybe we did something wrong? Hell I'm the one who blew us up, why didn't I take the hit? Before Welch can contemplate further on this, the strange green sea below them, the fact that this island is floating, or how to deal with the three people he's found himself with; the island decides it's time to move. He holds the Berg tight and just lands flat on his rear. He isn't about to drop the ice-type or y'know, fall off himself; so that's his best idea at the time. When they stop, the investigator looks up, and sees the collective Starly. And some of them look angry. 'Wild' and angry. He leaps back up, and looks to the other three. "Ok, everyone just hold. I know I came off like an angry ass before, and well, I 'was'. Got other things on my friggin mind to deal with you three right away. But, ya gotta listen to me. These Starly probably have had their minds reverted back to their wild roots. They did that to this Bergmite right here. Just... stay calm and don't piss em off. Maybe then they'll move on."Intuition to try to see maybe how we angered them: 2YAU5Ft|3d6

Marshall was still fairly confused, given how little extra he just found out, but he nodded in response, as he could understand his ally's frustration. The knight, as is common in a war, has lost a fair number of allies to the enemy himself and he made them pay for it almost every time. Still, how dare they treat them like puppets on a stage? So he attempted to reassure the man. "Then we shall find them and we will make whoever is responsible for all this pay. The Gods will guide the way!" Before he could say any more, the island moved, however he stood his ground, watching as the Starly rose. Now to respond to the other person. "This, a weapon? Hah! It's little more a weapon than a pebble!" He then proceeded to attempt to bend the rod into two uneven parts (or at least bend it if he can't actually manage to snap it in two, making it similar to a kukri) - one still about as long as a dagger/baton, the other as long as was remaining - in a similar manner one would do for a snack bar before simply watching the birds, seemingly not even noticing what would be so intimidating about that. He was prepared to move out in front of his two more sociable allies should they strike, though. Athletics of rod-bending: X0wa_oZR3d6 Intimidate of making it seem effortless: 3d6 3d6·3d6

Welch turns, almost dumbfounded, staring at Marshall.
"That's the exact OPPOSITE of what I asked you to do! They give you a pair of ears in wherever the hell you came fro- Columbia?! These Starly may have had their smarts dialed back from what they are supposed to have, but they still can tell when someone is waving an ARCEUS-DAMN WEAPON AT THEM!"

Marshall glared back at Welch for a moment and sighed - both of them thought of that shoddy pole as a weapon? He had still only bent it, he didn't wave it at them. He himself wouldn't be threatened by what he just did, so why would they? 'Had these people not seen a war-hammer? Need I say how no sane warrior would actually break off parts of their own weapon?' "You told us to stay calm and not aggravate them, did you not? I'm not pointing it at them, nor would I call it a weapon, I myself would not feel threatened by someone damaging a plain pole... But fine - I don't need it anyway!" Then he outright dropped the 'weapon' on the ground. As far as he was concerned, it really wasn't much of a weapon. Still, he was seeming rather intimidating just by being him, even if he didn't mean any harm just yet. "Now stop yelling - it isn't helping. Also, it is Columnia."

"Columnia then. Haven't heard of either. And don't lie to me, you were showing off."
Welch waves Marshall off, clearly done with the man.

Nyko attempts to read the mind of one of the birds, but finds its mental fortitude too strong to press through. Her powers were certainly being less than impressive today.
Welch, you get the feeling that the Starly aren't necessarily agitated by you, but agitated in general. As far as you can tell given the large amount of younger birds in the flock, the underside of this island was their nesting grounds, and they most certainly weren't expecting it to start moving. You also know that Starly are proud birds, easily offended and quick to defend themselves. If they feel threatened, they will attack the threat ferociously, and you've got a feeling that someone may have just issued them a threat... I wonder who.
As you three bicker about what to do next, one of the smaller, weaker looking Starly drops out of the sky with a weak cry, falling weakly on the island. It seems it was forced to leave the nest too early. This seems to set the flock off in a loud agitated squawking, a good few of them seem to be looking at Marshall in agitation, seeming to see him as a threat to be dealt with and a small group of those seem to be preparing to fly out of the sky to attack him. In the meantime, your island keeps moving forward, accelerating as it goes.

Seeing the bird fall from the sky and the flock's reaction nyko starts to fret and panic a little That's not good... ok don't panic... ummm... They might calm if they think the chick is alright... crap everyone else is either gruff, creepy, or marshall they'd just make this worse... oh I wish I didn't look like a cat I'll probably piss the flock off too if I get to close woman's touch or no... but... She thinks as a sly smile appears on her face ...I don't have to get close...
Reaching out with her power Nyko tries to slowly and gently prop up and lift the bird while projecting calming/encouraging thoughts into its mind. There there it's alright I gotcha no one's gonna hurt you. Can you flap for me? Just a little? Can you show the other birds you're still just as much of a flyer as they are, and that they don't have to worry? naturally she'd try to read the little bird's mind at the same time. As for what she'd do once she gets it in the air and at least looking healthy.. well needless to say she's making this up as she goes...

Marshall watched the birds closely as they looked back at them, holding a more casual position now. He was not as blind to the attention he was getting as he was to the threat he just issued. 'Why were they paying so much mind to a simple action that was not even directed at them?' And then one of them fell. 'Surely, they would care more to retrieve their ally than to fight a single enemy that has yet to strike any of them?' If not, they'd likely earn the wrath of the knight, unlikely as it were. He would talk to them, but how would he be sure that these birds will understand them any better than the common pigeon? Thus, he just watched the fallen Starly, glancing to his allies and the Starly every now and then, paying little mind to the immediate threats to him. He'd take it back to a medic, but alas, there were none around. He may not be doing much more now, but at least he won't be making things much worse...
